Embrace the Rise of Layered Hairstyles

This summer, one trend is rising above the rest, and that’s layered hairstyles. Offering a blend of dimension, movement, and personality, layers are reclaiming their spotlight in the hair world. From soft face-framing strands to dynamic shags and elongated silhouettes, this season’s layered looks are all about enhancing natural beauty with tailored precision.
At HARE & BONE, we’re embracing this movement across all lengths and textures, helping clients discover the layered look that’s just right for them. Whether you’re looking to revive your current cut or commit to something brand new, layered hairstyles offer an effortlessly modern refresh.
Why Layered Hairstyles Are Summer’s It-Cut
What makes layered hairstyles the go-to this summer? Versatility. Layers work harmoniously with virtually every hair length, from chin-length bobs to waist-grazing lengths. They can inject volume into fine hair, lighten thick locks, and frame the face to accentuate your best features.
This adaptability is key in a season where effortless elegance meets ease and practicality. Layers add texture, allow for air-dried styles, and bring out the best in natural movement, ideal for summer’s relaxed vibe.
Tailored to Every Length and Texture
Whether you’re craving the revival of the ‘70s shag or a subtle cascade of long layers, there’s a version of layered hairstyles to suit every aesthetic. Shorter styles benefit from soft internal layering for bounce and shape, while longer hair gains definition and movement through expertly placed long layers.
Face-framing layers, one of the most requested looks this season, are particularly transformative. These delicate pieces not only draw attention to the eyes and cheekbones but also make everyday styling feel intentional and refined.
Heatless Styling & Embracing the Natural
As more clients steer away from excessive heat tools, layered hairstyles have become the perfect partner for heatless techniques. Their natural flow enhances air-dried styles, waves, and curls, making it easier than ever to embrace your hair’s organic texture.
A spritz of the Oribe Apres Beach Waves And Shine Spray or a curl-enhancing cream like our personal favourite Love Curl Cream by Davines is often all that’s needed to bring layered hairstyles to life, especially during warmer months when minimal styling feels just right.
For those drawn to a more carefree aesthetic, the boho hairstyle is also seeing a strong revival this season. With its emphasis on texture, softness, and natural movement, it’s the perfect companion trend to layered cuts. Discover our favourite boho hairstyles for summer.

Your Ideal Layers Start at Our Salons
Crafting the perfect layered hairstyle starts with understanding your hair type, lifestyle, and aesthetic preferences.
At our Esher hair salon, clients can enjoy the same experience as they do at our Fitzrovia salon, which brings fashion-forward style to every appointment.
Across both spaces, our team uses advanced cutting techniques to customise layers that complement your features and hair’s natural movement. We don’t follow trends, we tailor them to you.
The Consultation: Precision Meets Personality
Our approach at HARE & BONE is always consultative. Whether you visit our London location in Fitzrovia or meet with our talented hairdressers in beautiful Esher in Surrey, we begin by getting to know you, your routines, your preferences, and your hair’s unique story.
Only then do we begin sculpting a layered hairstyle that enhances not only your look but your everyday confidence. From maintenance advice to product recommendations, every detail is considered.
Stylist Favourites: This Season’s Must-Have Layered Looks
Our stylists are currently loving the modern shag, full of airy volume and attitude, and long butterfly layers that deliver seamless movement while maintaining length. These styles are perfect for the sun-drenched days ahead, offering shape and sophistication in equal measure.
Another favourite is the textured bob with layers that give structure without sacrificing softness. It’s a timeless style with a distinctly 2025 update.
Book Your Transformation
This summer, let us help you find your perfect layered hairstyle. Whether you’re looking for a bold transformation or a gentle refresh, our Fitzrovia and Esher teams are ready to guide you. Book now to experience hairdressing that’s tailored, transformative, and timeless.

A Day in the Life of a Hair Stylist: Inside the World of Amelia Evans

At HARE & BONE, creativity, connection and technical excellence define everything we do. Few can lead the way and inspire the team as much as Amelia Evans, our Art Director, Head of Education, and an award-winning hair stylist based at our Fitzrovia salon.
Her work spans precision cutting, colour concept creation, industry education, and client transformations. In this ‘day in the life of a hair stylist’ blog, we follow Amelia through her typical routine, offering a look at how experience, care and artistry come together in her world.
Starting the Day in the Life of a Hair Stylist
After a morning gym session and breakfast to fuel her morning, Amelia arrives at the salon around 9:45 am to prepare for the day ahead.
Organisation is essential. She checks her appointments, ensures all tools are clean and ready, and plans the flow of her day.
“I look over the day ahead and plan what I can,” she explains. “It doesn’t always go to plan, but I like to be prepared.”
Amelia’s day in the life of a hair stylist begins with intention and structure, a quiet moment before creativity takes the lead

Working with Clients and Supporting the Team
Amelia spends five days a week in the Fitzrovia salon, looking after a dedicated and long-standing client base.
“The most rewarding part of my job is making people feel great and building those connections. Some of my clients I’ve known for ten years. It’s always lovely to hear about their lives and catch up.”
Beyond the chair, Amelia plays a vital role in team culture. Whether it’s answering questions, offering advice or mentoring junior stylists, she’s always available to support her colleagues.
She typically wraps up around 7 or 8 pm, concluding a dynamic and creative day in the life of a hair stylist at one of Fitzrovia’s leading salons.
Education, Creative Direction and Industry Impact
When she’s not on the salon floor, Amelia is educating across the industry for Davines, sharing HARE & BONE’s ethos and advanced techniques through bespoke training courses.
She also plays a key role within Davine’s global education network, contributing to the brand’s mission of combining sustainability with cutting-edge hair innovation.
As Head of Education, she’s responsible for formatting our internal training programmes and creating the colour direction for HARE & BONE’s creative collections.
She embodies HARE & BONE’s Tech Trilogy ethos, a multi-disciplinary approach that values equal mastery in cutting, colouring and styling.
Amelia’s colour collection Harecore Happiness, inspired by 90s rave culture, was presented live in Chicago to over 1,000 colourists and featured in Creative HEAD magazine.
She has worked backstage at Fashion Week shows for brands including Versace and Tommy Hilfiger, and was a Colour Genius Awards 2024 finalist in three categories: Creative Colour Genius, Mindful Colour Genius and Afro Colour Genius.
As you can see in this example of a day in the life of a hair stylist, it’s a career that brings variety and creativity.

Trends and Transformation
Right now, Amelia is excited about the shift in client preferences.
“I love that everyone is being brave with their hair now, having more layers and cutting off a lot of length. While hair colour has gone more natural and understated for the time being, clients are looking to change their appearance with having shorter hair. Which is making me very happy.”
Book in with Amelia today!
A day in the life of a hair stylist like Amelia Evans is built on expertise, creativity and care. Whether you’re booking for a transformation or a subtle refresh, you’re in expert hands.
Appointments with Amelia are available at HARE & BONE Fitzrovia.
Whether you visit our Esher hairdressers or our Fitzrovia hair salon, that blend of artistry and individuality is central to the experience.
Boho hairstyle to inspire your summer look

The boho hairstyle has been reviving lately, and we expect to see many looks this summer that offer a fresh take on carefree styling. Already this season, there has been an emphasis on natural texture, softness, and effortless shape. As fashion leans into relaxed silhouettes and tactile fabrics, hair is following suit. We’ll be embracing movement, texture, and a more unstructured kind of beauty.
Whether it’s tousled waves, subtle braids, or a soft colour melt, there’s a boho look to suit every length, texture, and occasion. If you plan to book in at our Esher or Fitzrovia hair salon, we’ll craft a boho hairstyle that’s bespoke to you by tailoring it to your hair type, lifestyle, and individual sense of style.
Boho hairstyle staples: shapely layers and soft textures
This season, the boho hairstyle is all about the finish: undone yet polished, styled but not stiff. Rather than sleek or sculpted hair, we’re seeing styles that move freely like shaggy layers, soft fringes, and silhouettes that celebrate the hair’s natural flow.
This style lends itself to lived-in elegance. It feels shaped by the elements, not the straighteners. It’s wearable, expressive, and suited to summer living.
Beachy waves and boho buns
Beachy waves remain a signature look when it comes to boho hairstyles. These relaxed looks appear effortless and can add volume and movement to the hair without appearing overly styled.
For those who prefer wearing their hair up, boho buns are the perfect solution. You can wear these styles low, loose and textured, and they also work brilliantly with face-framing strands or braided details. We’ve also seen looks elevated with silk scarfs, soft ribbons and natural-looking accessories to finish off the hairstyle.
Enhancing curls and embracing volume
Boho doesn’t mean straight hair only. In fact, boho hairstyles thrive on natural curls and coils. The goal is to highlight what your hair does best, enhanced with a great cut and well-matched products. Some products we adore for enhancing curls include the Davines LOVE CURL Cream and the Oribe Styling Butter Curl Crème, which help to define your curls and keep them in place.
Layering plays a key role here, too, when it comes to boho hairstyles. This is because layers allow for your curls to sit in a shape that enhances bounce and body. Our stylists at both our Fitzrovia hair salon and Esher hairdressers know how to work with texture to achieve a personalised shape that grows out beautifully.

Lived-in colour for a sun-kissed feel
A signature feature of the boho revival is lived-in colour. The colouring is subtle, seamless and designed to mimic the soft fade of summer. Think hand-painted highlights, balayage looks, and soft tonal shifts that add depth without drawing harsh lines. Whether you’re looking to soften your brunette, brighten your blonde, or enhance your natural base, our hairdressers in Fitzrovia, Central London, and Esher, Surrey, are here to create the perfect hue for your summer look.
Tailored to you- always
At HARE & BONE, every look is crafted around you. We start with a consultation that explores your lifestyle, hair texture and goals.
This isn’t just about following trends-it’s about enhancing what you already have and helping your hair feel as good as it looks.

Fresh Hair colours for spring: what’s trending in our salons

Spring is in full swing, and with the sunshine here to stay (hopefully!), now’s the perfect time to lean into a colour that feels fresh and warm and has vitality. One thing we’ve noticed this spring is that our clients are moving away from cooler, ashier tones in favour of warmer, light-reflecting shades that enhance natural hair with quiet luxury.
The freshest hair colours for spring
We’re seeing blondes go golden, brunettes go for richer tones and soft pastel accents to hair this season. When we think of hair colours for spring, we think about depth, dimension and effortless beauty. It’s not about dramatic reinvention; it’s about subtle shifts that bring your colour to life.
From nuanced blondes to tonal brunettes and playful seasonal twists, here’s what’s trending in our Fitzrovia and Esher hair salons right now and how we’re customising each look to suit you.
Buttercream blonde: a seasonal staple
Sitting between Scandi blonde and natural honey, buttercream is spring’s answer to the icy champagnes that we’ve seen previously. It has a creamy softness that brings brightness to the face without any harshness. This is one of the hair colours for spring that is as luminous as it is luxurious, with a lived-in feel and a blended look.

Brunette: gloss over gimmicks
When it comes to hair colours for spring, brunettes are making a statement in the most understated way. The ‘liquid brunette’ is a term that describes super glossy hair, and we’ve been creating this with a blend of chestnut, mocha, and coffee tones that create movement and depth. This look is low effort but undeniably striking.
Balayage: the sun-kissed classic, reimagined.
The balayage is back as one of the biggest hair colours for spring, but this time, it is softer and more subtle, with more dimension than before. Our clients are receiving seamless transitions of golden ribbons woven through natural tones and delicate enhancements that mimic how the sun lifts your hair after a holiday. This look is perfect for any hair colour that wants a natural refresh with minimal upkeep.
Peach and apricot pastels: a playful touch
We’ve been enjoying how peachy and apricot-blonde tones have been quietly coming into their own. These shades offer a gentle warmth that flatters lighter hair without tipping fully into copper. They bring a hint of unique colour to hair for a sunlit and soft look that’s one of the most perfect hair colours for spring.
Our professional advice: the power of small tweaks
We believe that not every transformation needs to be dramatic. A different toner or some strategically placed highlights can completely shift your look. Our advice? Focus on enhancing your existing colour with subtle warmth, added shine, and thoughtful detail.

Glossing for healthy hair that’s elevated
No matter the shade of hair colour that you go for, the finish can be everything. A high-shine gloss will elevate any colour, giving your hair that expensive-looking sheen that reads as healthy and intentional.
Retain your hair’s colour and vibrancy
It’s important to retain your hair colour and its vibrancy with the right products. We’re loving the Davines MINU colour protective hair care range, especially the MINU Hair Serum, for keeping colour vibrant and salon-fresh between appointments.
Ready for Your Seasonal Update?
Whether you’re craving a soft tonal shift or something with a bit more personality, our team of colour experts in our Fitzrovia hair salon in Central London or our Esher hair salon in Surrey are here to tailor the perfect update by choosing the best hair colours for spring. From delicate face-framing babylights and balayages to elevated pastels, we’ll guide you through the shades that best suit your skin tone, style, and maintenance preferences.
Book your consultation now, and let’s create something beautiful, because the best colour is the one that feels entirely yours.
