Nurturing hair and the planet

11 Apr 2024

We’ve always believed in the power of beauty that doesn’t compromise the health of your hair or our planet. That’s why we’re proud to partner with Davines and their groundbreaking approach to regenerative farming. We visited their farm to see first-hand the positive impact they’re creating.

Regenerative farming goes beyond traditional organic farming methods. It focuses on restoring and revitalizing the health of the soil, biodiversity, and ecosystems. This is important for many reasons.

  • It promotes biodiversity by preserving native plant species and creating habitats for wildlife. This ensures a healthier ecosystem for future generations.
  • It enriches the soil with organic matter, helping to capture and store carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. This plays a crucial role in mitigating climate change and reducing our carbon footprint.
  • Sustainable farming techniques minimise water usage and promote efficient water management. This conserves precious water resources and protects aquatic ecosystems from pollution.
  • Regenerative farming techniques such as crop rotation, cover cropping, and composting improve soil structure, fertility, and resilience to erosion.

At HARE & BONE, we’re committed to making a positive impact on the world around us. By embracing Davines’ regenerative farming practices, we’re not only transforming the way we care for your hair but also contributing to a brighter, more sustainable future for everyone.

Colour trends to consider

20 Feb 2024

Spring/Summer trends are here and our Colour Director and Art Team member, Amelia Evans, talks us through some of the key trends to consider this year.

Mushroom and expensive browns are popular with celebrities such as Hailey Beiber. This trend is perfect for previous balayage blondes who are looking to embrace their natural selves and also still want to have dimension. Adding a face frame or some gentle lights will elevate all-over colours and create light-reflecting natural tones.

Cherry Cola, yes, think of your fave fizzy sweet and how sparkly and rich they are then visualize this beautiful tone, full of burgundy red and warm brown tones. This is the TikTok colour of the moment, very grunge and Y2K is still a massive trend within fashion.

Vanilla Latte Highlights – this is for those who are bored of being super blonde and want a more lived-in sandy approach to their hair. Adding some lightened areas using a selection of highlighting techniques, a glazed glossing of honey and a slight pearl pinky tone over the top will complete this beautiful, multi-dimensional feel.

Butterfly Bobs

5 Feb 2024

The Butterfly Bob is the latest adaptation of the classic bob. It’s more relaxed, has more layers and includes the addition of a curtain fringe that frames around the eyes or cheekbones depending on length. Artistic Director, Jamie Benny, explains who this suits best.

“This is a versatile style that can be shaped to suit all hair textures. The purpose of the Butterfly Bob is to create a heart-shaped face, through the framing of the front layering which means it can also be tailored to all face shapes. If you love the shape but are not willing to go shorter, then consider keeping the length but adding the curtain fringe that travels from the bridge of the nose, curving around the cheekbones to open the face and narrow the jaw area.

the style is also very versatile, which adds to its popularity. Jenna Ortega has a straight version that enhances the shape of the cut and Zendaya wore hers with a more glamorous edge. She has less of a fringe but still the rounded shape frames her face. the best thing about styling the Butterfly Bob, because of the layering, framing and texture, is that even with different hair types, textures and densities, the shape can be structured so that it is easy to style at home. It should be cut to enhance the natural form and structure of your hair so it’s simple to maintain.”

If you would like to know more about the Butterfly Bob or any style refresh, book a complimentary consultation and our team will be happy to chat through the best options for you, your hair and your lifestyle.

New Year News

7 Jan 2024

Welcome to 2024. We have a strong feeling that this is going to be a powerful and positive year. Not only do we celebrate our 10th anniversary later in the year we’re kick-starting it with our new salon partner – Davines.

The team spent months researching various salon brands and Davines is a company that aligns with our values and vision. Sustainable and stylish, Davines is a B corp brand with the determination to do good for each other and the planet. We visited their carbon-neutral headquarters in Parma, Italy where they grow plants, fruit trees and vegetables for their research and development laboratories to test and experiment with different samples of natural ingredients.

We’ve undergone intensive training and can’t wait to share our knowledge with you. For all colour clients, please note that a new skin sensitivity test came into place on November 16th 2023. If you haven’t taken this test yet, please ensure you pick one up from the salon at least 48 hours before your next colour appointment. And trust us when we say,  the colour performance is unrivalled. We know you will love this brand as much as we do.
