GO BIG THIS CHRISTMAS!

16 Dec 2022

If there was a season and a reason to go big, then this is Christmas. Below are some images from my Glitterbox Collection to inspire you. Together, volume and texture will always make a statement. When drying your hair, use a root lift to get as much height in there as possible. This will help strengthen the foundation of your style. From here, you can tong, curl, crimp or straighten the hair but keeping volume will create impact. My go-to is always Oribe Volumista Spray when it comes to making a statement.

If time is not on your side and you’re heading straight out from work, then add on a glitter hairband to get the party started.

AWARD WINNING

8 Nov 2022

The celebrations continue as Andrew Plester, our Gent’s specialist has won Men’s Hairstylist of the Year at the Global Creative Awards held in Amsterdam. Over 2300 hair stylists from across the world gathered for the two day event, where Andrew won his category. We couldn’t be more proud of him. Andrew’s commitment to his clientele and craft is a delight to watch. He keeps all our stylists up to date with the latest trends and techniques and is always happy to help others. Andrew says of his win, ‘I couldn’t believe it when my name was read out. It was such a surreal moment but one I’ll never forget. Sam and the team at HARE & BONE have been by my side all the way and it’s a honour to bring this award home, not only to the UK but to our salon.’

Andrew is also finalised at the British Hairdressing Awards, at the end of this month so hopefully we’ll have more good news to share in the next issue…

GENDER NEUTRAL LAUNCH

6 Oct 2022

Today we launch our gender neutral price menu. HARE & BONE was built on celebrating individuality. Honouring our values of honesty, integrity and inclusivity we have made the decision to move our services to a gender neutral menu.

Discussion groups with clients and team members have taken place over the summer months to shape a gender neutral menu that works for all. The menu is now built around time and experience, not gender. By doing so we can continue to create an environment that is inclusive and celebrate equality.

We would also like to take this opportunity to remind you that we’re always here to help our transgender and non-binary customers, regardless of where you are in your transition. The team are educated and happy to help with a range of practical support and our discretion is guaranteed.

SEPTEMBER FASHION WEEK

7 Sep 2022

While the hair we create in salon is not defined by trends, we do look to them to keep your style fresh. Each season, members of our Art Team are  backstage working at LFW. While we’re at the forefront of trends we incorporate what is happening on the catwalk by blending inspiration with hair that works for you. Each time you visit us in the salon you receive the full HARE & BONE experience. We are committed to progress, through continuous education and development of our team, so we always produce contemporary, yet wearable hair designs.

So what will we be recommending this autumn/winter?

Waves are sticking around for another season so there’s a softness to hair for the season ahead. Embrace the natural texture of your hair and work with the wave. Bobs are big for the coming months and there are so many variations that can be tailored to work with your hair type and lifestyle. French, Italian, flicked, bottleneck, Botticelli and, of course, the 90s bob. Another 90s look from everyone’s most  sought-after hair icon is the shoulder kissing style seen on Jennifer Aniston. This is all about movement and bounce. Keeping with the 90s feel, Jennifer Lopez’s long length is fresh and high end. Long hair needs lots of care to look that luxurious and I recommend using Oribe Hair Alchemy Shampoo and Conditioner. It moisturises and restores from within, making hair feel hydrated and strong.

Last season the money piece was a popular trend for colour. This season it has evolved to be a little more extreme. Now colour placement has moved to underneath the hair or even stripes of highlights, which was first a massive hit with the Spice Girls and AllSaints in the mid 90s. This is the perfect trend to showcase where inspiration comes from and how in the salon we adapt it to be everyday looks for our clients. We have the skill and knowledge to create the two-toned look but also the expertise to customise it for you.

Moving into the 2000s, the red and copper tones rocked by Rihanna in 2k is very much back. This trend has resurfaced alongside others such as the Juicy Couture tracksuit. The first one to change it up was Kendal Jenner for Prada earlier this year and it’s progressed from there. Other celebrities are now following suit for new copper locks such as Phoebe Dynevor.
